Scope Database Content Data Analytics Software Tool

In 2015 Content Data Analytics softwaretool was launched, which is a data analytics algorithm software developed by the Scope Database to identify outlier journal/conference proceedings behaviour in the Scope database. Outlier journal/conference proceedings examples are given below

  • Rapid and unexplainable changes to number of articles/papers published after Scope Database indexing
  • Rapid and unexplainable changes to number of authors published after Scope Database indexing
  • Unexplainable changes in geographical diversity of authors, affiliations or country
  • Other features that the software tool considers are self-citation rate, subject area deviations, etc.

Journals/conference proceedings identified by the Scope Database Content Data Analytics Software Tool will be added to the Re-evaluation process and will be re-evaluated by the CSC in the year of identification by the Software tool. The review criteria for re-evaluation are similar to the Scope Database content selection criteria used for newly suggested titles. After completion of the re-evaluation process, the CSC will decide to either continue a journal’s coverage or to discontinue the forward flow of the journal coverage in Scope Database. Content covered in Scope Database prior to the re-evaluation completion will remain in Scope Database. Scope Database have rights to delete the content covered in the Database if necessary.

Publication concerns

A journal/conference proceeding can also be identified for Re-evaluation based on publication concerns on either publisher level or journal level. Concerns for such journals are identified by the research community/researcher and are taken seriously for re-evaluation. If the concern is reasonable and acceptance, the title will be added to the Re-evaluation and re-evaluated by the CSC in the year of identification of the publication concern. The review criteria for re-evaluation are identical to the Scope Database content selection criteria used for newly suggested titles.
